Finnish Educators

Teaching in Finland requires a higher level of qualification than in almost any other country in the world. Finnish educators are trained to Masters level, and entry into educator education programmes in Finland is highly competitive. Only the most talented graduates enter the profession.

This is not a trivial point. It means that when we say our educators are Finnish-trained, we mean they have been formed by a system that selects, trains, and develops educators with extraordinary rigour.

Our 14+ Finnish educators bring that standard directly to our learners in the Maldives. They are not simply educators who have read about Finnish education. They have lived it, studied it at the highest academic level, and are trained to deliver it with genuine depth and skill.

International Educators

Our Finnish educators work alongside a talented international team who share the same commitment to child-centred, research-based education.

Our international staff bring diverse cultural perspectives, specialist subject expertise, and experience from schools across the world.

Together, our Finnish and international educators create a learning environment that is genuinely exceptional: informed by the best of Finnish teaching and enriched by the diversity of our community.

Professional Development

At Finland International School Maldives, professional learning is ongoing. Our educators participate in regular professional development, collaborative planning, and reflective practice.

We work with Finnish educational partners to ensure our teaching remains current, evidence-based, and truly aligned with best practice.

Our team-teaching model also means that educators sharpen each other’s practice every day. When educators plan and teach together, they learn from each other in ways that no individual training programme can replicate.

A Team That Knows Your Child

With a 1:16 educator-to-learner ratio, our educators have the time and space to genuinely know each learner how they learn best, what motivates them, where they find things difficult, and what they need to flourish.

This depth of relationship between educator and learner is one of the most powerful features of the Finland International School Maldives, and it is something families notice from the very first term.
